Are Ghosts Real? You Bet Your Forgiving Little Ass They Are!

Let’s face it, movie sequels usually suck. You anticipate a great story and ending, just to be left feeling let down and broke after spending $97 for two movie tickets, a watered down Coke and half a bag of butter soaked, stale popcorn. The same can usually be said about relationship sequels. It never fails. I’ll be going through life, happy as can be and then, out of nowhere, a random friend request or message from a “ghost” appears and stops me dead in my tracks. I can count on two fingers where this has actually been a worthwhile scenario. Most of the time, I’m quickly reminded why these individuals left my life in the first place.

This isn’t to say that all sequels are bad. As a matter of fact, I now have one of my closest male friends due to testing the past relationship waters. There are certainly people I would love to know what would happen if a second chance ever arose because I feel that some endings were premature and unwarranted. But, like most things in life, we don’t always get what we want. And that’s perfectly ok.

The problem is nostalgia. She’s an evil sneaky bitch who will haunt you and make you feel more alive than ever before. She’ll also run away faster than you can even blink causing you to re-evaluate every decision you’ve ever made, leaving you feeling worse than ever before.

The bottom line is, if you allow someone back in, be very careful not to hand them the key to your heart right away. Slow it down. Remember who you are and how much you’ve changed. And for the love of all that is holy, know your worth and adjust your crown to fit the beautiful queen that you are! 👑
